TeamLogic IT Names Naples’ Matt Thomas Technician Of The Year
Award-winning service provider says that managed IT services provides opportunities to build deeper relationships and provide better service
When Matt Thomas heard his name announced at the TeamLogic IT franchise owners’ summit, he was surprised. He shouldn’t have been. As one of the finalists for Technician of the Year, Matt had already more than proven his skills in the world of IT service, repair and customer support.
“Since the event was in Florida this year, Brian (Bonacci, owner of the TeamLogic IT in Naples, Florida) said that I and Will Emmons, our network engineer, should go,” Matt recalls. “He also said he’d nominated me for this award, but there were a lot of nominees. I wasn’t expecting to win, but when they began reading off the card, what I heard sounded like me.”
Techs are foundational to TeamLogic IT
The Owners’ Summit event includes other awards, honoring franchises that have grown in size and scope over the previous 12 months, as well as over the life of the business. The technician award brings some attention to the group of men and women who make it all possible, says Chuck Lennon, President of TeamLogic IT.
“We couldn’t do any of it without our techs,” he says. “When we work with a new TeamLogic IT franchise owner, we spend a lot of time helping them learn how to evaluate and hire great technicians. Of course, many of our owners come from an IT background themselves, so they already have a sense of the type of person they’re looking for, and that helps.”
In addition to serving their own businesses, TeamLogic IT technicians are part of a greater network of talented IT professionals across the country, Chuck adds.
“Part of what makes every TeamLogic IT franchise stand out is not just its tech team, but the fact that those men and women can pick up the phone or send an email out to hundreds of counterparts if they encounter something that’s got them stumped,” Chuck says. “It’s an amazing strength to our business, and our customers love that we have that depth and breadth of talent.”
New challenges every day drive techs
For Matt Thomas, who has been with the Naples TeamLogic IT franchise for five years now, every day brings the opportunity to tackle a new job, learn new skills and adapt the ones he has.
“I’d done some residential PC repair and virus-remediation work, so when I came to TeamLogic IT I had a big learning curve,” Matt says. “But I was really bored with doing the same thing day after day. Here we have so many different clients, and each of them has a different set of hardware and software. We learn something on every call, and I like that we’re facing a different set of problems wherever we go. I have the opportunity to learn something different every day, and I try to take advantage of that.”
