Corporate tech pro steps out on his own and finds multiple ways to drive sales and increase revenue thanks to managed IT services business model

When he was ready to leave the corporate world, Sandeep Kaushal was savvy enough to explore all his entrepreneurial options, while staying within his area of expertise. Those twin tracks of research led to the TeamLogic IT franchise opportunity, and he opened his Vernon, Connecticut, location in August 2015.

“I had been a software developer and eventually was managing IT teams in Fortune 500 companies, as well as for a software firm,” Sandeep says. “I wanted to do something different that offered more growth than I could find in the corporate world, something where I could control my own destiny. The more I looked into TeamLogic IT, the more appeal it had for me.”

Mix of support and independence was encouraging

Right away, he liked the idea of having a well-established franchise organization provide not just initial stand-up tasks and training, but ongoing support while he was adjusting to operating on his own. “I liked the mix of having the corporate team, but also the ability to run the business your way,” Sandeep explains. “I didn’t feel like I was opening a completely new business, because the name is out there and well known. A lot of other owners told me they felt the same way, so I know I’m not alone in that.”

“The vast majority of our clients are for managed IT services, and it continues to be a great opportunity,” he says. “The structure allows you to build an ongoing relationship, not just a ‘one and done.’ I am helping business owners in my community to grow, and am growing my own business alongside theirs.”

“Given that we’re in Connecticut, I thought I would mostly deal with insurance agencies, but we have CPAs, manufacturers, lawyers, financial services … a broad spectrum. That has amazed me, but the services we provide are of great interest to a wide variety of companies. It has played out as I hoped it would, and I think as we strive to become an even better company ourselves, we can continue to grow and serve even more of the community.”
