Bill started working with Nicholas after learning about Alexium International during a networking meeting in early 2014. Alexium produces advanced chemicals that are used to create flame retardant fabrics. The company’s technology was originally developed for military use, but Alexium is currently commercializing its solutions and bringing its economical and non-toxic process to a much wider market.
But Alexium had a problem: Its IT infrastructure was giving the company fits. Nicholas knew that the IT challenge needed to be solved so that the company could grow efficiently.
“We were having a lot of problems,” he says. “We had an old system. Everything was quite antiquated. We needed it all upgraded — the whole lot.”
Problems mean downtime, and downtime means lost productivity. Because Alexium employs teams of chemists and other high-earning employees, lost productivity becomes expensive quickly.
TeamLogic IT of Greenville took a detailed look at the IT challenges Alexium was dealing with, then built a customized plan to upgrade systems in two offices: Alexium’s research facility in Greer, South Carolina, as well as its executive offices in Greenville.
TeamLogic helped Alexium switch to a faster internet service provider and was able to fast-track installation; installed firewalls at both offices; created secure remote connections between the offices; upgraded the email system; and redesigned the website.
Nicholas says that downtime was minimal during the upgrades, and there were no surprises.
“TeamLogic IT is my sole provider now,” he says. “They’re fantastic. They’re brilliant. They’re always willing to help, and they move fast when we have a request, which is something I’m a big stickler for, because I don’t want to have to wait when something is impacting the business.”
TeamLogic IT also offered sound advice.
“A systems upgrade was part of the plan to move company forward, but what I envisioned versus what TeamLogic IT said we should do was very different,” Nicholas says. “Their recommendations were spot on.”
