Why did you choose TeamLogic IT?

Dan Thomas: TeamLogic IT is a great business opportunity to begin with. With managed services and IT, there’s a lot of small media businesses out there that really need that trusted advisor, that support. It’s a growing marketplace, and there’s a huge need for it.

How did the franchise evolve into a family operation?

Dan Thomas: From a family perspective, it’s been incredible because the plan initially wasn’t for this to be a family business. As it turns out, they had an interest in the business and joining, and as a dad, I am so proud of both of them and to see them grow. My son, on the technical side, is a level two technician. My daughter, on the sales side, is a sales manager. To be able to work side by side with them and my wife has been absolutely incredible. I feel like the luckiest man in the world.

What’s it like working alongside your dad?

Elizabeth Thomas: It’s great being able to work with my dad every single day, especially in sales. We work alongside each other very closely. It also gives us a unique advantage working with other small businesses. A lot of businesses that we work with, or prospects, are also family businesses.

What advice would you give others working in a family business?

Dan Thomas: Advice I would give to other people in my position who are working in a family business for their parents: They have a unique advantage, and I definitely encourage them to be curious and ask questions, because there’s a much stronger relationship that you have working for your parents than any other employee in the business.

How do you see TeamLogic IT growing in the future?

Dan Thomas: TeamLogic IT is continuing to mature and get better at how we do things. I think we’re in a better spot today for us to continue to grow the marketplace. I think we have a real strength to build on, and I’m excited to see the future of TeamLogic IT.
