Wayne and Tracy Croushorn transformed years of technical and business experience into a flourishing TeamLogic IT franchise. From growing up on a farm and earning an engineering degree to navigating 35 years in industrial controls and technical sales, Wayne brought the skills that laid the foundation. Opening in November 2019, just months before the COVID-19 pandemic, Wayne and Tracy Croushorn relied on networking, client relationships, and team development to quickly establish a client base across healthcare, law, and manufacturing industries in Florida. Wayne and Tracy Croushorn share their insights about running their TeamLogic IT franchise:
Q: What aspect of the business do you most enjoy and why?
A: Winning new clients is always a big high. I also love watching employees grow and develop. We helped develop an intern out of K-Tech for about a year and a half who got hired by a huge MSSP with a higher-salary job. I love that we gave him a platform to get where he needed to be.
Q: What area of the business would you like to grow or make more profitable?
A: More end points per engineer. I’d also love to get into compliance for the Department of Defense in aerospace. We are looking to become CMMC certified.
Q: Do you have a particular industry or service that you specialize in?
A: I know a lot about manufacturing. Oftentimes, potential clients will come to me for thoughts on other things non-IT, so that’s more value I can bring. We’d like to get more manufacturing, though we also have a lot of healthcare and law firms in Florida.
Q: Recent business accomplishment you’re especially proud of?
A: We partnered with other TeamLogic IT owners to help a client hit with ransomware move from their compromised AD to Entra and Intune in 10 locations across six states and 145 users—in three weeks. We would not have been able to take on that business had we not been part of a franchise network.
Q: Recent personal accomplishment you’re especially proud of?
A: Quite frankly, reaching the five-year mark of my business is a big milestone.
Q: Best advice you were ever given?
A: An old sales guy once told me, “You got two ears and one mouth, use them in that ratio if you want to be successful in sales.” A favorite one from my grandfather: “Don’t worry about the mule going blind, just load the wagon.” In other words, don’t worry about stuff you can’t control.
Q: When you’re not working, you’ll probably find me:
A: Working on cars with my boys or on a frisbee golf course.
Q: A favorite motto or quote:
A: The book title that sits on my desk says it all: “Get Sh*t Done!” There’s a lot of good stuff in there.
